Thanks for the tip on the chassis number I will examine the area very carefully to see if there is a hint of number.
I acheived ignition on the engine last night.
I had foolishly assumed that the green wire on the new coil I bought would go the the green wire on the wiring loom, similarly the black wires. Apparently not, the green goes to the black and the black to the green.
Problem solved.
The short in the headlight was inside the globe.
Now all I have to do is figure out how the globes stays inside the headlight. My original headlight has a clip that held the globe in place. I got a new headlight that does not have the fittings for this clip.
Does anyone know the globe stays in one of these"holders". I am thinking a rubber boot of some sort, but the local honda dealer wants a part number...
I have attached a shot of the horn, and another newer horn that I am considering ripping the guts out of and putting in the old horn. I might get lucky there.
