Does anyone know what the hooks are for (arrowed below) up under the rear fender?

My guess is that they're for the rear indicator wires. Is that correct?

Yes, they're to secure the wiring.

That's good. Don't really want to take the rear wheel out again just yet...

Something's cooking...

Handlebars are now on. Throttle tube (early) fitted and lubed so that it snaps back (apart from at the far end of it's travel - fully open).

Managed to break the front brake lever late yesterday evening while trying to fit the cable! Something else to source and purchase. CMSNL are taking their sweet time with my last order. It's been close to a week and still says 'pending'. :(

I've managed to order a headlight socket from a nice lady in Canada. I'm hoping it's the correct one for my headlamp unit - there's no retaining clip/clamp. It's just a round hole with a slight 'key' pressed in. Is this a 'friction fit'? I've also ordered a APF halogen bulb to suit, along with an aftermarket pilot lamp holder.

Also, I've purchased some newly chomed rear shock bottoms from a certain Mr Bill Silver! Amazing guy, and very pleasant to deal with. Now I have to build my rear shock dis-assembly tool.

I now need to do some wiring (bullet terminals) in the headlamp area, and work out how to connect the lighting. My speedo has the high beam indicator lamp which I don't believe was used on the '61 model, so I need to decide what to do with that - wire it up, or leave it.

Questions, questions?

The PO has left me with NOS covers (in grey) for both left and right sides. They do seem to fit fine, but the right side cover will foul the clutch cable as it routes from the hole in the frame where the HT leads connect to the coil. Should there not be a slot in the RHS cover for the clutch cable to exit (this is a 1961 Dream)? Am I supposed to cut a slot myself, or have I not routed the clutch cable correctly? Have I even got the correct RHS cover?

Also, I am wiring up the headlamp area and have a new wiring loom, the original key switch, and new handle bar wiring (lights, horn and starter button). The wiring colours on the C72/C77 wiring diagram don't match up exactly, so I'm doing the best I can by buzzing the wires through with a DVM. I am left with a green wire from the switch, with a double 'female' bullet connector. I assumed this is a +ve feed for lighting (meter and pilot?) but don't see 12V +ve with the keyswitch in any of the expected 'lights on' positions. Any thoughts on this?

You have a later right side cover. The early covers have a slot for the cable. As you may know, the later models had a shorter clutch cable that dropped straight down into the right case cover..

Thanks Seadog. That's kindof what I suspected.

I've also now found that I have been supplied with exhausts that don't fit either... :(
