Got my parts back from the chrome plater and am generally pleased. Got the rear rim laced to the hub and the backing plate re-assembled. Also got some things put on the frame. Right now I've got some Red Wing shocks on the bike. The old original shocks don't want to give up their plungers.

Got to look at my tail light innards. The photos show the short lens with the angled bulb that allows clearance. I wondered what color the tail light bracket should be so I got to looking at period advertisements since I have seen both black and silver brackets. It appears that black bikes have a black bracket, red and blue bikes have silver brackets, and white has a white bracket. I have had 5 black bikes, 3 red bikes and 1 blue bike and this was the case for each of them. As a disclaimer I am not saying this is gospel, only this is what I have observed. The bracket on my bike is original paint black and has the STANLEY D-2R stamp in white, so I'm going with a black bracket on my black bike.

So far, so good. I tore the starter motor and the solenoid switch down, cleaned and rebuilt them. Put new brushes on the motor. I should have taken photos to detail the process but didn't. I'm hoping to have the bike done by the end of the month.

Lookin' finger-lickin' good, HT! Really sweet. I'm dead jealous of the blast cabs!

Thanks, Steve. All of a sudden I'm hungry for some Kentucky Fried Chicken! I picked up the larger cabinet 10 years ago from Harbor Freight and it has served me well. I picked up the smaller cabinet cheaply a while back and use soda in it for the small, delicate stuff and motor/carb parts.

I have made more progress. Ran into a snag with the head pipes I got from Ohio Cycle. They don't fit! I had to use my originals that slipped right in and lined up fine. I sent Nick an e-mail and will go from there. I am going to post in the product reviews to keep everyone in the loop.

Working on the seat now. I will have to send the trim strip in to be re-plated. The foam appears good and I repainted the pan. I'll put the cover on tomorrow if time permits.
