Also surfing the web i came up with this article, at one point it talks about how only the only the very early cl72's had polished alloy fenders. Pretty interesting

I found this Cl350 fender on ebay, could be similar to what you have. If you do decide to sell the front fender off of the cl72 let me know. My 63 CL72 is missing the front fender, i'm not really sure what fenders will fit on it at the moment.
