I am Eric van Rijn and I am living in the Netherlands. I am riding bikes as long as I live,(nearly :)
and at this moment I am busy with the restoration of a C77 from 1962. When I bought it it looks like the picture below, at this moment it looks like the second picture, yes the bike is in the living room! I took the whole engine into parts because I would like to do a good clean job.(sorry for my badly english).
I have a question about the valves, what should I do? Just build it all together again with just cleaning or should I do some grinding, or other stuff (polishing with pasta?)tho make sure the valves are closing properly. To be honest, when I look at the valves they are looking as the should be, but I am not an expert.
I hope to get some advise from this forum, thanks in advance for all the input!

I just did the engine on a 1967 C77 and wondered about the valves as well.
I have a friend who was a motorcycle racer and engine builder most of his life and he advised me against doing anything with the valves unless it was needed. Apparently the tooling to re-seat the valves is specialized for this engine and hard to find. He suggested I test the valves while the head is off by injecting some gasoline over each valve when closed - I used paint thinner. If some seeps through, the valve is okay but if it pours through the valves need to be done. I did this test on mine and the valves were pretty good so I left them alone. I started it for the first time last night and it ran fine. Good luck in your project!
