You can disassemble and repair them quite easily; just a question of prising the indents out, cleaning with copious WD40 spraying, dry off with compressed air (available in aerosols from Maplin/Radio Shack/RSWWW), reset (re-tension) the contact wiper 'till it maintains a good pressure on the slip-track, pack with silicon grease and re-assemble. You may need to re-solder the wire tail, as the insulation will be brittle from the years of oil- and heat-contamination. Or make a new tail.
